GO Group (Green Operations Europe)

GO Group is an independent, pan European and cross industry think-tank to inspire people in the music festival and events industry to run their operations greener and smarter.

I am co-founder and project leader of GO Group. GO stands for Green Operations. GO Group is an independent, pan European and cross industry think-tank to inspire people in the music festival and events industry to run their operations greener, smarter, more sustainable and more responsible. It was initiated by Green Music Initiative, Bucks University, GreenEvents Europe and Yourope (The European Festival Association) at the first GreenEvents Conference in 2010 and founded in early 2011.

Since then GO GROUP inspired and connected hundreds of festivals, initiatives and scientists in more than 70 events such as workshops, conferences, field trips, panels, keynotes and discussions in 19 countries and all parts of Europe. It is our goal to exchange knowledge, to stimulate change, to cooperate with and promote institutions, projects and initiatives. GO Group is a regular contributor to the most important events of the (live) music industry. Including among others: Eurosonic Nooderslag (ESNS), GreenEvents Europe, Green Events & Innovations @ ILMC, ADE Green, Reeperbahn Festival, by:Larm Oslo, MaMa Paris, Nouvelle Prague and countless festivals all over Europe.

Today GO GROUP is not only a unique institution and a “weird green family”. It is a partner in European funded projects, a trusted center of competence and pool of experts in the field of event sustainability as well as a trailblazer for many sustainability related topics beyond green such as mental health and social responsibility.

After ten years we find ourselves in a time where climate change finally gets the attention it deserves. Today more than ever it should be clear that it needs all our efforts and real change to meet the challenges we are facing. In our private lives and in in our industry!
